Stannington, St Mary's Village Hall in Northumberland Wedding Stannington Village Hall is an impressive place to hold a wedding reception. A former chapel of St. Mary's Hospital, it absolutely oozes character and was, to be totally frank with you the perfect showcase for my uplighting service. Thankfully, my clients Helen & Rachel agreed with me & booked my new uplighting service.

I arrived at the venue at 11.30am to make sure I had plenty of time to get in & rig everything up. Little did I realise at the time, I could easily have reversed my van all the way to the doors at the side of the hall to load in but I obeyed the 'No Vehicular Access' sign & dragged three trolley loads of equipment up the path. D'oh!

Once in, I set up my disco gear - speakers, main disco lighting, my DJ booth and wireless microphones (for wedding speeches later). Then it was time to get busy placing additional light units around the hall. Being a former chapel, there are lots of gothic archways & those were perfect targets for my lights to accent.

Back at my booth I set about remotely programming the colours the customer asked for on the lights - a light blue & warm white.

As the day wore on & daylight began to fade the uplights began to make an impact. The colours went from a subtle highlight to a bold statement as the outside light disappeared.

With the day over, speeches done & absolutely amazing food eaten it was time to party. I grabbed my camera a few times throughout the night to take pictures from the opposite side of the hall & I was both utterly gobsmacked & proud of what I'd managed to achieve with only ten uplighting units in a space that size.

My clients - it's sufficient to say were thoroughly pleased with the result.
